The Impact League is a groundbreaking 5v5 women’s league format that combines the excitement of soccer with activism for community impact. 

Following successful pilots in the Middle East and Africa, Detroit represents the first North American program for this globally-minded organization. "The Impact League is more than just a soccer league," said co-founder Marie Hansen. "It's a community of women who are passionate about making a difference in the world. We use soccer as a platform to raise awareness of the SDGs and to inspire women to take action to create a better future for all."

In January 2024 we will premiere the Impact League in the U.S. in partnership with Detroit City FC.

The Impact League will take place on the same nights that the DCFC Women’s PASL team is in action, making it a night dedicated to Detroit women in football! All date are here.  

We're driven by a commitment to equality and inclusivity, and we're seeking a like-minded individual to join our team and cultivate a supportive environment where women of all skill levels can flourish. 

You'll play a key role in organizing game days and motivating participants. You can expect to work about 10 hours a week.

If you know soccer, possess exceptional organizational skills, are a confident communicator, and have a passion for learning and growing, we encourage you to apply! Prior experience in similar roles or soccer events is a plus, but we're more interested in your enthusiasm and dedication to empowering women through sports. 

Job description:

As an Impact League Manager, you will be a community builder, an equality champion, and a belonging advocate. You will foster a welcoming and supportive environment where women's voices are heard and celebrated. You will also create and cultivate a thriving community and help the elite women's team build a strong fan base by connecting the different players.

We need two League Managers to join the core team that is establishing the Impact League in the U.S. starting in Detroit. 

You will work with the founders of the league once a week from the Detroit City FC Fieldhouse starting January 2024. 

Majken Gilmartin and Marie Hansen (based in Detroit) have since 2015 EIR has pioneered the world of sport by building the Global Goals World Cup in 17 countries, a Coach Program and a global movement of women supporting each other to break down barriers and lead local sustainable development. You will also receive a comprehensive guidebook outlining your tasks and responsibilities before, during, and after game days, ensuring your success in this pivotal role and go through a 1 day training program.

Responsibilities & tasks:

  • Team Coordinations in partnership with Impact League staff.

  • Game days responsible: run the 6 game days, find the dates here.

  • Community Building: Build strong relationships with players to foster a sense of belonging and friendship.

  • Field Management: Ensure playing fields are ready for game days.

  • Communication: Manage SMS/WhatsApp groups for all teams and players.

  • Team Check-In: Oversee team check-in procedures on game days.

  • Training Coordination: Coordinate and lead warm-up and facilitate the impact games.

  • Game Reporting: Collect reports and scores from team captains at the end of each game day.

  • Clubhouse Services: Facilitate services like ride-sharing and childcare volunteers.

  • Closing Celebration: Organize a closing event to bring everyone together for a celebration.

We are seeking individuals who (qualifications): 

  • Wish to create an inclusive and supportive environment for women to thrive.

  • Have a passion for women’s soccer and a commitment to promoting equality and inclusivity. 

  • Possess strong organizational skills, manage time effectively and can handle multiple tasks.

  • Have excellent communication skills and are ready to speak up to a crowd. 

  • Demonstrate good knowledge and basic understanding of soccer matches.

  • Are willing to attend training sessions and actively engage in learning. 

  • Are able to drive and have a car available.

  • Prior experience in similar roles or involvement in soccer events is a plus, but not mandatory. 

  • Empathy and patience along with the ability to mediate and guide in conflict resolution, are valued.

Practical details:  

  • Availability required for 6 game days in January through March. All dates are All date are here.

  • Paid position approximately 10 hours of work per week on designated game days, including preparation time during the week.

  • Pay: $15/hr following the DCFC standard for hourly coaches and game day staff. 

  • You will be invited to join a workshop day on January 25 or 26, 2024. This will be your start date/day.
